CHRIS SMITH STORY
During the summer of 2003 a group of Little League coaches approach then State Representative Chris Smith to solicit support for youth athletics. During the conversation, the coaches mentioned that the teams in other parts of the county participated in an All-Star game, and kids from his community did not have the same opportunity.
Smith, having grown up and the Central Broward community and having played for the Southwest Saints and the Lauderdale Lakes Vikings, immediately began the charge to organize a game for the kids in his district. And 2003, the first Chris Smith All-Star Football Classic was held at Dillard High School. Each year since, the Chris Smith All-Star Football Classic has grown in size and stature.
After every game, defensive and offensive MVP’s are selected from both sides and presented a trophy while the top cheerleader from each side is acknowledged with the Spirit Award trophy.
